Washington Kastles 2013 Home Opener and Vie for a Record Tie Tonight

The Washington Kastles tennis team have won 32 consecutive Mylan World Team Tennis (WTT) matches and they are one match short of tying the 1971-72 Los Angeles' Lakers all-time major U.S. pro sports record. Tonight is the Washington Kastles chance to tie that record as their season home opener is tonight and they are playing their long-time rivals the New York Sportimes. The Washington Kastles home schedule runs from July 8th to July 24th with home matches on July 8, 9, 11, 17, 20, 22, 24.

At the Kastles stadium on the Wharf for this season's home opener, the Kastles debut on their team the reigning WTT Female MVP Martina Hingis and World No. 22 Kevin Anderson. Tonight there will also be a ring ceremony for the 2012 Kastles team who completed the second-straight 16-0 season. I am glad and thankful for being able to cover the Washington Kastles matches over the years, and I will be doing more coverage starting tonight. I wanted to share some photos from the 2012 season, where the Washington Kastles played the New York Sportimes in their season home opener. It's wonderful to look back on these photos and I'll share photos from the 2013 Washington Kastles season home opener soon. Go Kastles!
