The Washington Kastles vs the New York Sportimes and a Historic Tie on the Line

The Washington Kastles kicked off their 2013 season on July 8th with a chance to tie the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers for the longest winning streak in major U.S. pro sports history with 33 consecutive wins. 

Before the match was a press conference and meet and greets. It was a full stadium and anticipation was in the air. A color guard presented the colors and Caleb Green sang the National Anthem. Once the players were introduced onto the court, Williams, Reynolds, Paes, Anastasia Rodionova and Coach Murphy Jensen were presented championship rings by the Super Bowl XVII MVP John Riggins in honor of their 16-0 season in 2012.

The games started and fans and teammates cheered on. Venus Williams couldn't compete in the match because of a back injury, yet she supported her Kastles teammates from the bench. There were special guests in the audience such as First Lady Michelle Obama, DC Mayor Vincent Gray, Washington Redskins Hall-of-Famer John Riggins and CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer.With incredible plays and momentum, the Kastles defeated the New York Sportimes 23-15 and clinched their 33rd consecutive victory.

The Kastles return to the Southwest Waterfront tonight to compete against the Boston Lobsters to try and win their 34th consectutive victory and earn the the title of having the longest winning streak ever by a major U.S. pro sports team.
