I love animals and I support causes that help them. One of the organizations that I support is The Washington Humane Society and they have various events throughout the year to raise support. One of their events is the Sugar & Champagne Affair. It is an annual dessert and champagne reception that
honors local crusaders against animal cruelty: Washington Humane
Society’s Humane Law Enforcement Officers, Animal Care & Control
Officers, and Humane Educators.
The event this year was held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Every year the event is hosted by Chef Todd Gray & Ellen Kassoff Gray of Equinox Restaurant & Salamander Resort. This year's event was presented by Trade Center Management Associates.
This celebration showcases many talented pastry chefs in the DC area. Guests are able to enjoy delicious confections complemented by fine sparkling wines. The VIP Chefs' Tasting Room presents an exclusive array of savory creations from chefs in the DC area. In addition to honoring WHS employees, the Washington Humane Society also honors the community's "Humane Heroes" who have made a positive impact on the lives of animals in DC
and who have shown tremendous support for their programs and services.
I was able to cover the event and enjoy the company of guests and dogs, as it is an event where guests may dress up their pets and bring them to enjoy the treats there. Many people dress in cocktail attire and it's fun to see the pets there enjoying the environment. Here are some highlight photos from the event.
